Practical info

Tips

  • Choose the area before the hotel. Playa de las Americas has several beaches and water sports all year; Los Cristianos has the main commercial and cultural life and the ferries; Las Galletas and Costa del Silencio are quieter. The tourist board also lists coastal promenades at Costa del Silencio, Las Galletas and Las Americas. Activities include beach and water sports, coastal walks, hiking in the uplands and ravines, whale-watching trips and the nearby Jungle Park (Parque Las Aguilas): see Jungle Park. Detailed guides exist for Playa de las Americas, Los Cristianos, Costa del Silencio and El Medano, and where to stay in Los Cristianos compares bases. The climate is about 18 C in winter and 28 C in summer, according to the tourist board.

How to get there

By car, Arona is about 15 to 30 minutes from Tenerife South airport via the TF-1, and about an hour from Tenerife North airport via the TF-5 and TF-1. TITSA bus lines link Arona with Santa Cruz and other towns in the south. See the best area to stay in Tenerife for bases.
