Playa de las Américas, Tenerife: Beaches and Nightlife

Updated on November 7, 2026

Playa de las Américas is the lively centre of the south coast, in the municipality of Arona, with a seafront promenade named after Francisco Andrade Fumero and beaches that the Tenerife tourist board says offer water activities all year (read 7 November 2026). It is the place to stay for restaurants and nightlife, with Los Cristianos to the south and Costa Adeje to the north. Arona has 15 km of beaches, about 18 °C in winter and 28 °C in summer, and a tourist train that runs through Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas.

Practical info

Tips

  • If you prefer a quieter seafront with the same beaches, look at Costa Adeje, and for the ferry port and a calmer evening Los Cristianos. Siam Park is reached by shuttle from the south resorts, as explained in Siam Park tickets. A hotel here suits anyone who wants to walk to bars and restaurants; the area comparison is in where to stay in Tenerife.

How to get there

15 to 30 minutes by car from Tenerife South airport (tourist board). The TF-1 motorway serves the area, and several TITSA lines run to Arona.
