What each day looks like
- Teide and Masca Valley: pickup in the coastal resorts, mostly before 8:30. The route stops at Vilaflor, the Roques de García rocks (20 minutes), the dragon tree in Icod de los Vinos, Masca village (30 minutes) and Garachico. Lunch is not included. The route can change with the weather.
- Sunset and stargazing: viewpoints in Teide National Park, sunset, dinner in the park's highest restaurant, then an hour of stargazing with telescopes. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
- Catamaran: departs from Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje, with snorkeling gear and a buffet.
- Whale and dolphin cruise: the Los Gigantes cruise lasts 2 hours and costs from €28 per person, from Los Gigantes port. Resident pilot whales are seen all year.
- Teide cable car: the ride climbs from 2,356 m to 3,555 m in about 8 minutes, and costs €43 return for a non-resident adult or €24 one way (official fare, read 6 November 2026). Tickets are sold only online. It does not reach the summit: that path needs a free permit, requested in advance. See the cable car.
How to choose
- One day only: Teide and Masca, which sees the most of the island. The 4.3 rating is the lowest of our three picks.
- A night out: the sunset tour, the highest-rated of these at 4.7, with dinner on the mountain.
- The sea: the 3-hour catamaran for snorkeling, or the 2-hour cruise for whales and dolphins from Los Gigantes.
- Neither tour includes the Teide cable car (€43 return) or the Masca gorge hike; see Teide tours and Masca for both. The gorge descent takes about 4 hours over 5 km, with an entry from €40.66, a compulsory bus and a return boat.
- Theme parks are separate days: Siam Park in the south and Loro Parque in the north. Both start from €44 on the ticket listings, and a twin ticket for both is from €78.
- Your base changes the pickup and the drive. The south is drier and sunnier, with Costa Adeje about 20 minutes from the south airport; the north is greener and cooler. See north or south and where to stay in Tenerife. Going from one end of the island to the other takes 45 minutes to an hour by motorway, according to the tourist board.
Other day trips
- Island tour: a guided version of the Teide, Icod de los Vinos, Garachico and Masca route, or do it by car in your own order; see the island tour.
- Pyramids of Güímar: an ethnographic park and botanical garden, open 10:00 to 18:00 every day, closed on 1 January and 25 December.
- Teide at night: for a stargazing outing with a Starlight certification, see the Teide stargazing tour.
