The Palmetum is a botanical garden of 12 hectares on the seafront of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, built on a former landfill. It holds nearly 3,000 plant species, including more than 600 palms, arranged by region of origin: the Caribbean, Madagascar, New Caledonia, Australia, Asia and the Pacific islands. It is open every day, including Sundays and public holidays, from 10:00 to 18:00, with last entry at 17:00. The adult ticket for non-residents costs 6 euros and a child ticket 2.80 euros (palmetumtenerife.es, read 7 November 2026).

Practical info
Tips
- Allow 1.5 to 2 hours for the main sections. Ramps and a lift make the garden accessible. A food truck is on site, picnics are not allowed and the pond water is not drinkable. Tickets are also sold on Tiqets at 6 euros, rated 4.6 out of 5 from 74 reviews (read 7 November 2026). Children under 3 enter free, and Canary Islands residents pay 3 euros; reduced rates for over-65s, under-12s, large families and people with disabilities need proof. A guided visit lasting an hour costs 70 euros for groups under 30 and must be requested by email at least 15 days ahead. Combine the garden with the rest of the capital: Santa Cruz de Tenerife covers the museum, the market, the auditorium and the carnival, and Tenerife Carnival lists the dates.
How to get there
