The Ritz-Carlton, Abama

The resort sits on Tenerife's volcanic coast between the Atlantic and Teide at Calle María Zambrano 2, TF-47 km 9, and the hotel site gives 30 km to Tenerife South airport. Its 459 rooms, suites and penthouses are divided between three areas: The Citadel, The Retreat and The Penthouses Collection, with one- and two-bedroom suites and penthouses. The site lists ten venues, among them a Basque restaurant by a Michelin-starred chef, Akira Back Tenerife (Japanese), Verona (Italian) and a clifftop seafood restaurant, plus a beach club on Abama Beach. Pools include a serenity pool, an infinity pool at The Retreat, a splash park for children and natural pools at the beach, and the 2,500 m² spa has a wellness circuit, sauna and Turkish bath. A golf course is part of the resort.

Choose it for a long stay built around the grounds; the airport is 30 km away.

Royal Hideaway Corales Beach, adults only

This is an adults-only hotel at Avenida Virgen de Guadalupe 21, Playa La Enramada, La Caleta, on the beachfront, 23 km from Tenerife South airport. It has 121 junior suites, several with sea views, terraces or hot tubs, three heated outdoor saltwater pools and a spa with a minimum age of 16. The Gastrocorales dining area includes the Michelin-starred San Hô, Il Bocconcino and El Rincón de Juan Carlos, plus Starfish, La Trattoria and NAO, where half board is served. Gym access is free for guests, while spa treatments cost extra.

Royal Hideaway Corales Suites

The sister hotel is on the same beach, with 114 designer suites, from one-bedroom deluxe suites to a three-bedroom Presidential Penthouse with a private pool, plus villa suites. The hotel says it welcomes couples and families, with children's entertainment and programmes for all ages, and its spa is at the adults-only hotel (minimum age 16). The distances it gives: the village of La Caleta 300 m, Playa del Duque 2.7 km, the airport 23 km, Los Gigantes 22 km and Teide National Park 40 km. Breakfast is not always included in the rate. Pets are not allowed.

Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife

The Hard Rock is a 5-star all-inclusive resort at Avenida de Adeje 300, Playa Paraíso, with à la carte restaurants, premium bars, waiter service at the pools and beach, pool bars (Splash, Eden and Lagoon) and activities for children of every age. An adults-only solarium is open to its top tier of guests. The hotel announced improvement works for some areas from 1 September to December and says it remains open with main services running.
